Juxtaposition is the cheat’s guide to emotional depth. Using objects of a pseudo-revolution, ‘ANTICLIMAX’ is a place of excess designed to facilitate meaningmaking. Here, the combination of text, film and sculpture form a world of emotional and ideological tensions. Poetic, authoritative and absurd, the work relies on the viewer to make connections and in doing so, questions the power-dynamics of interpretation. What is the position of empathy within a mechanised system? Do materials embody, or substitute action? This place is taut with convolution and conflict, but it is also where relationships are formed.

Christina Cushing is a multimedia artist based in Nottingham. Her work combines virtual and physical mediums to explore metaphor and sensibility. She challenges objectivity as collective perception rather than singular, indisputable fact.
