Event: Introduction to Bokashi Composting, with Nev Portas
Wednesday 9th August, 6-7.30pm
Free, on zoom, book via eventbrite here
Bokashi composting is an anaerobic fermentation process that relies on inoculated bran to ferment kitchen waste into useful compost. The method involves layering kitchen scraps with a Bokashi inoculant, usually consisting of wheat bran combined with molasses and effective microorganisms. Bokashi composting produces byproducts in a very short time that are highly nutritious for plants and can be a useful addition to other forms of composting.
In this workshop, Nev Portas will present an introduction to the Bokashi method, sharing his personal research and approaches to composting more widely. Nev is a director of Down to Earth, Derby, a Community Interest Company working to empower others to create collective purpose through nature.
This event is made possible by public funding from The National Lottery through Arts Council England.
