Artist Development Workshop: ‘When Normal gets Weird’ with Jennet Thomas
Saturday 14th October, 12-3pm
at Two Queens
12 places available, email info@2queens.com to book
A performance workshop with the artist and filmmaker Jennet Thomas, that will explore how small actions in mundane locations can create a productive strangeness. We will do some playful experiments in small groups using locations around the building and local area. We will try methods such as repetition of familiar gestures and displacement of ordinary actions. We will tease out the boundaries between what is read as ‘normal’ and ‘weird’ behavior – it may get both silly and serious. You won’t have to feel exposed, as the actions could be tiny and discreet, or if you are inclined, public and mischievous. We will also make time for you to talk about your own practice and aspirations as an artist if you desire.
3 hours (12.00- 3.00pm) including a 30 minute break (you are welcome to bring lunch). Participants are encouraged to bring a phone or camera that you can use to record, or Two Queens staff can provide equipment if booked in advance. A budget to support the participation of those with access needs is available, please request this support by email when booking your place.
This event is made possible by public funding from The National Lottery through Arts Council England.
